About us
Celebrate the Children is an organization dedicated to helping youngsters with autistic spectrum disorders to learn social skills via a pioneering therapy called DIR - Developmental, Individual, Relationship-based Intervention.
Program Philosophy
The one-to-one therapy provided by the charity is invaluable to a child’s development, and in helping parents understand the situation from the child’s perspective.
Mission Statement
The aim of the program is to produce children who:
- Have good self esteem and a positive school experience
- Have a strong sense of self and are independent
- Are in touch with their emotions
- Are independent thinkers and problem solvers
- Are prepared emotionally, socially, behaviourally, academically and vocationally to live successful and happy lives
Children with sensory, learning and communication difficulties often experience problems in connecting to others, along with deficits in abstract thinking and problem solving. This can often lead to inappropriate behaviour in social situations
In order for children to develop social behaviour, they require social skills to be developed in an environment where they feel motivated and comfortable enough to interact.
The key to making progress and building up trust is recognising and respecting, each child’s individual differences. This recognition helps build a platform for emotional, behavioural and academic improvements to take place
Autistic spectrum disorders are still widely misunderstood. Children with disabilities are children first. We believe in celebrating them for who they are rather than trying to make them someone else.
Celebrate the Children is an extremely worthwhile charity, that provides invaluable support in helping children to develop meaningful relationships with those around them.
The Charity deserves wider recognition for its work. The greater the public’s understanding of an autistic child’s world, and the challenges facing their parents, the better it will be for everybody.
